EMBL is looking for a Project Manager to support the Project Lead in the high-quality, timely, and cost-effective delivery of the tender & implementation of a visitor exhibition, located in the new EMBL Imaging Centre on the campus of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg, Germany. The visitor exhibition will highlight the importance of curiosity-driven fundamental research, allowing the public to get insights into molecular biology and the power of imaging technologies and as well as how the research at EMBL affects everyday life.

You will be a member of the Engagement Team within the EMBL Communications Department reporting directly to the Project Lead. This role is based in Heidelberg, Germany and you would start as soon as possible and stay on board until the end of July 2022 (planned project end date).

Your role

Responsibilities include:
  • coordinate internal and external stakeholders in the development and delivery of technical design, tender and implementation for the visitor centre
  • manage and coordinate project team members in the production and timely delivery of exhibition content and design
  • provide technical coordination between internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with the building development
  • coordinate contractual and budgetary requirements
  • plan and track overall project schedule & budget, including provision of regular progress reports
  • support internal stakeholders with the preparation of materials for fundraising efforts
  • administrative planning and organisational support

We are looking for someone who delivers projects independently, has a great eye for detail and organisation, an open and professional attitude and the ability to communicate confidently and clearly.


Essential:
 
  • extensive project management experience with a proven track record of successfully delivering large, complex projects
  • ability to work independently
  • demonstrable financial management, analytical and project planning skills
  • ability to work effectively under tight deadlines
  • ability to track and coordinate individual project deliverables while keeping an eye on the bigger picture of the project
  • excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships across a large organisation
  • a good command of spoken and written English and German

  • knowledge of design and implementation of visitor centres in a European context
  • direct line management experience
  • experience in a research environment, communications or agency environment
  • experience working with Agile processes
  • experience working in an international environment
